THE SD|C STORY

Multimedia Designer and Creative Professional

Accredited Kindermusik Educator

Creative Artist with a Unique Style

SD|C was first realized as an Interior Design firm in 2016 in Hamilton, ON Canada. Robyn Saxberg relocated the business to Thunder Bay in 2018 to be close to family and when the business was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, Robyn began to reimagine and redesign its future with her partner, Jordan Blaxill, Director of Theatre in Education at Magnus Theatre, by her side.

Prior to SD|C’s redevelopment, much of our opportunities came from technological and creative pursuits such as art, web design, and performances so the business was rebuilt in 2021 to focus on pursuing and cultivating Robyn’s true passions and to grow within this new virtually centred world.

We always say “create with both hands” because we believe that’s what it takes to truly immerse yourself in a project. Both hands and your whole heart. Throughout our history we have strived to pour everything we have into each and every project, each and every relationship, and each and every endeavour.

Robyn Saxberg began her Kindermusik journey in September 2021 when seeking classes for her own children after COVID closures. When she discovered that Kindermusik was no longer offered in Thunder Bay, she felt obliged to ensure our city didn’t lose such a valuable educational resource. Robyn is a licensed Kindermusik Educator through Kindermusik International’s rigorous training and evaluation process. Following in the footsteps of other exceptional local Educators, she is proud and delighted to bring back the musik!

In every Kindermusik class, you’re welcomed into a playful and nurturing environment where your child will experience music of varying styles, genres, and cultures. They’ll interact with other children and engage in movement, rhythm, and vocal activities that develop far more than just music skills. Kindermusik’s approach to early childhood education with use of ASL sign language and award-winning, research-based, and developmentally appropriate curricula, prime children for success in school and in life.

Creative Art with a Unique Style

In her spare time, Robyn Saxberg creates abstract acrylic works on canvas and on wood. Her work ranges from intricately detailed and whimsical, to elegantly edgy, to mysterious and mournful with much of her inspiration deriving from her family and the natural landscape of Northern Ontario where she lives.

Her eye for balance and sophistication brings her delicately crafted work to life in her wall art and murals. Her talent for, and background in Interior Design informs her practice as an Artist; shaping the atmosphere and energy in uninspired spaces.

OUR HISTORY

SD|C and Habitat for Humanity, Hamilton | Habitat Canada

Saxberg Design | Creative has great passion for making meaningful contributions to our local community. Robyn Saxberg’s long standing relationship with Habitat for Humanity grew from her time living in Hamilton, ON Canada where she donated her time as a Build Committee member, an on-site crew member and crew leader on the Burton St. and Wickham St. builds, and she assisted in the redesign of the Hamilton ReStore reception. Robyn was also given the honour of being invited to perform the national anthem on behalf of Habitat Canada at the National Conference and AGM in Hamilton, ON Canada in 2018.

“Robyn contributes her skills with Habitat Hamilton as a designer, a build committee member, and as a build site crew leader.  She is a pleasure to work with, and successfully leads volunteers from all walks of life through the construction of our homes.  Robyn is an active participant in committee meetings, and has a keen eye to envision and evolve a space into something that is both functional and beautiful.  Thanks for all you do, Robyn!”
